Whether it’s through our backpacks filled with motivation and essential tools, our See It, Say It, Be It: Vision boarding workshops, or a brave first step into our programs, every image and every story is a testament to what’s possible when we show up for one another – most importantly our youth and families.

Community Mission In Action
We are Grow House, a youth development organization based in Portsmouth, Virginia, serving the Hampton Roads area with mentoring, leadership workshops, and essential back‑to‑school supplies to support kids, sheltered families, and individuals facing homelessness. We believe average doesn’t live here, which is why we cultivate a mindset of Competence, Confidence, and Contribution in everyone we serve. Our community‑centered programs and resources ensure that each young person and family we work with receives the encouragement and tools they need to thrive. Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders
We began by rallying our community around Back‑to‑School backpack drives and essential events that equipped young people with both supplies and motivation to start strong. From that foundation, we’ve grown our work to include mentorship circles, leadership workshops, and skill‑building experiences. We create opportunities for youth to explore their strengths and stretch beyond their comfort zones, while remaining committed to nurturing the whole child—helping each young person develop what’s needed for personal growth and community impact. Here, we celebrate every milestone, knowing that when youth lead with competence, confidence, and a spirit of contribution, our entire region thrives.

We work alongside families to foster a productive growth mindset that values fresh beginnings and personal breakthroughs. Through structured developmental programs, focused micro‑learning experiences, interactive workshops, and meaningful mentorship, we cultivate lifelong leaders equipped with the interpersonal, leadership, and executive functioning skills essential for success.
